Endless possibilities with Magritte, Escher, Dali and de Chirico, to name a few, the latter achieves a sense of disquiet which at times is quite powerful. I enjoyed painting the Magritte style clouds, which always seem to be moving very quickly across the picture surface, while everything else is frozen in time. I resisted the thought of painting a painting of a painting of a croquet scene sitting on an easel inside the doorway of a club house, as in Magritte's The Human Condition.
